Overview
Technicians who use our products need to communicate with the business admin. Work orders are scheduled in the web app, & technicians needed a better way to see which jobs were theirs. The old list view had poor hierarchy.
The biggest challenge was limited development resources: I had to pare the design back to a true minimum.
The challenge
With multi-day work orders arriving, we needed a calendar that shows a technician the visits attached to each work order they are assigned.
Before
The list of upcoming jobs made it hard to see how jobs line up on a day or a week. To look ahead, you scrolled all the way down to the job.
After
The new calendar lets you swipe through days & weeks, & drop down the month to pick any day in the year.
Conclusion
The calendar gives a better day to the thousands of technicians who rely on the app while travelling between jobs, & it makes creating work orders in the app possible next.
